Springfield SummerFair is a "green" event. What does that mean?
By working closely with its partners to host a festival that reflects green event best practices, Willamalane is committed to having an environmentally responsible event and to significantly reduce all on-site waste products. In addition, Willamalane encourages carpooling and mass transit transportation options. There will be free bike valet services at the festival.
To assist in creating a "green" event, how will I know where to put my trash?
There will be kiosks at Springfield SummerFair with signage that shows you which place to put your trash – recycling, composting or garbage. Most kiosks will be staffed with volunteers eager to assist you.
How else can I help make Springfield SummerFair "green?"
Bring your personal refillable water bottle instead of buying plastic bottles. Only request lids and straws if you really need them since they are not recyclable. Also note that Styrofoam will be absent from the event; it is being replaced with recyclable, compostable, and reusable dishes and utensils. Thank vendors for doing their part in making Springfield SummerFair a "green" event!
