Intro to the Game of Golf

Ages 18+. A program for those returning to the game of golf or just beginning. A complete introduction to the facilities, etiquette, tradition, experience and fun of golf combined with instruction in all aspects of the skills needed to play and improve. Each participant will receive a punch card for practice between lessons and the series culminates with an on course playing experience. Superhero Jiu Jitsu: Women’s Fitness

Ages 18+. Tabata training is one of the most popular forms of high-intensity interval training (HIIT). It consists of eight rounds of ultra-high-intensity exercises in a specific 20-seconds-on, 10-seconds-off interval. It may only take four minutes to complete a Tabata circuit, but those four minutes may well push your body to its absolute limit.

In our women’s-only tabata class our primary focus will be doing 4-6 rounds of tabata. We will go over form and the moves prior so you can safely build speed with repetition. Then we will move into some movements that utilize our body weight and some light dumbbell use if needed. Finally we will briefly stretch before you go on tackling your day! Please note we have a kids area but no staff attendants. This class is not included in Willamalane ALL-ACCESS Fitness Pass.

Summer Paddle Trips

We have partnered with the great folks at Northwest Canoe Tour to offer a few different kayak opportunities this summer. All are appropriate for beginners and include instruction, gear, guide and transportation. Bring a sack lunch and beverages. Space on each trip is limited; please register in advance. Participants under 18 will need a guardian to sign a liability waiver.

Cougar Reservoir: Paddle the clear waters of this reservoir in the mountains above the McKenzie River.

Coyote Creek:  A short distance from the launch on Fern Ridge lies a hidden gem! Wind through reeds and trees, past beaver dams and discover the beauty of this gentle stream.

Fall Creek Reservoir: Explore the fingers and perimeter of this local lake surrounded by towering Douglas Firs.

Siltcoos River: Experience this meandering stream from Siltcoos Lake nearly all the way to the Pacific! One portage required. Please note the longer day.

Slim Down Springfield

Registration is now open for the next contest starting May 1st!

Ages 18+. Slim Down Springfield is back to get you ready for shorts and swim suits! This 6-week weight loss challenge will help you get a jump start for summer and new, healthy lifestyle change.

Competition includes:

  • Membership in the fitness center at Bob Keefer Center
  • One free trial of each group exercise class
  • Cash prizes at the end of the competition
  • Weekly incentives
  • Weekly emails with results, motivational support and tips

Register as an individual or a two-person team. Participants attend weekly Tuesday weigh-ins to document progress. Prizes are awarded to the top weight loss percentages at the end of the competition. Weigh-ins: Tuesdays at Bob Keefer Center, 6:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m.
