This summer, kids can step up their game and have a blast! At the NCU Sports Development Day Camps, Northwest Christian University coaches present sport-specific instruction for three hours each morning. After lunch, Willamalane leads awesome activities like swimming, climbing and field trips. Open to all skill levels. Meet the all-star coaching team in charge:
Jackson signed with the University of Oregon in 2001 and promptly established himself as a prominent player. During his career at Oregon, Jackson earned two more First-Team All-Pac-10 selections. ackson has had an extensive background coaching in high profile basketball camps, including the Nike All-American Camp and the Michael Jordan Camp.
In his first year at NCU he led the team to unprecedented heights as they won their first ever Cascade Collegiate Conference playoff game. Year two saw even more improvement as the Beacons won a school-record 19 games, took fourth-place in the CCC, and hosted a playoff game for the first time.
Kelly Pitre, NCU volleyball head coach, will coach the volleyball day camp. Kelly Pitre has been the head coach for the NCU volleyball program since 2014. Pitre came to NCU after a stint as the head coach at New Hope Christian College and had spent the previous seven years in the local volleyball community, coaching at the high school and club levels.
Pitre played four years of volleyball with the Cougars and was a team captain during her senior year.
Jessica Cardwell, NCU women’s soccer head coach, will coach girls’ soccer. Cardwell has an impressive resume as a player and coach, highlighted by a six-year run as the head girls varsity coach at her alma mater, Thurston High School which is considered to be one of the most successful runs of any program in Oregon prep history.
Coach Cardwell aspires to build more than a successful soccer team, investing her time to fostering in young women strong academics, character and work ethic.
Benny Flores, NCU director of soccer and men’s soccer head coach, will coach boys’ soccer. Flores comes to NCU from Corban University where he spent the past 11 seasons with their women’s soccer team including the last four years as the Associate Head Coach alongside Head Coach Marty Ziesemer. During his time with the Warriors the team earned eight playoff appearances and played in six CCC championship games.
Athletic Director Corey Anderson said, “Coach Flores brings to the NCU Soccer program the much needed experience that will serve both the men’s team and women’s team well in the immediate future.”
