It’s a pretty picture: a picnic in the shade of a favorite park, a light summer breeze, and the company of friends and neighbors. Add live music, and the dancing begins.
Willamalane Park and Recreation District presents a series of outdoor concerts on Wednesday nights at 6:30 this summer. Music ranges from surf rock livening up Lively Park, to jazz at Jesse Maine, to bluegrass filtering through the filbert trees of Dorris Ranch.
Bring blankets, lawn chairs and refreshments for five idyllic evenings in the setting summer sun.
The series kicks off July 22, with the surf and hot rod music of The Men from SURF at Lively Park, 6100 Thurston Road. The band plays hits from The Ventures, Dick Dale and The Beach Boys — plus tunes by Jimmy Buffett and Los Straightjackets. Band website
