Willamalane Park and Recreation District has lost a friend.
Former Willamalane board member and booster Robert “Rob” Adams, 67, died last week. Adams served on the Board of Directors from 1987 to 2002.
While Adams was involved in local politics for many years, his real passion was Willamalane, his family said this week.
“Rob will be forever missed,” said Willamalane Superintendent Bob Keefer. “He had tremendous passion for the district and our mission to provide exceptional park and recreation services.
“He always challenged us to do more, especially for those on limited income. He was also passionate about our staff, always concerned that they were supported and appreciated.”
In 2007, Willamalane dedicated a park in Adams’ honor. Rob Adams Park, in the Thurston area, features a playground, basketball court, open fields, a natural area, valley views and a seasonal waterfall.
“We lost a great friend, but his impact on Willamalane will last forever,” Keefer said.
Adams is survived by his wife, Jody, three children and two grandchildren.
