Willamalane Park and Recreation Board of Directors has appointed Michael Wargo to the position of Superintendent for the district. Wargo will assume this role immediately, overseeing facility and program operations, staffing and strategic planning for more than 400 programs.
Wargo, who joined the district in 2016, previously served as Assistant Superintendent of Recreation, Strategic Planning and Resource Development, before becoming Deputy Superintendent. A Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP); Wargo has more than 25 years of experience in athletics, parks and recreation. Prior to joining Willamalane, he served as Executive Director of Coquille Parks and Recreation in Louisiana, and Deputy Director of the Mercer County Park Commission in New Jersey. He was also Associate Director of Athletics for Rider University.
“I am proud to act as Superintendent for Willamalane,” said Wargo. “I have such high regard for our staff, patrons and volunteers, and I am happy to step up at this time to support our organization moving forward.”
Wargo has a master’s degree in Education and Sports Management from East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania, and a bachelor’s degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation from The College of New Jersey.
As Superintendent, Wargo will focus on providing high-level leadership for all district departments, special events and programs.
