Participate in the 2024 Lane County City Nature Challenge with Willamalane! Citizens share observations of wild plants and animals in a worldwide Bioblitz. This outdoor, free program makes it easy and fun to participate! You’ll learn from Willamalane’s Natural Resources Department, explore Georgia Pacific Natural Area, and contribute to citizen science.

This program will meet at the Jasper Road Trailhead, where parking and bathrooms are available. After learning about local plants and wildlife, the City Nature Challenge, and how to upload your observations, participants will disperse throughout the natural area to take and upload photos of different species they find at Georgia Pacific Natural Area. All ages are welcome. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Materials needed: Wear appropriate footwear for walking off-trail and bring water. A smartphone is recommended for uploading your observations. Before the program, download iNaturalist App and get familiar with how to use it.
