Willamalane Appoints Veronica McCauley to Board of Directors
At the March 11 board meeting, Veronica McCauley was sworn in as the newest board member of Willamalane Park and Recreation District. She will fill the vacancy left by the departure of former Director Greg James and will serve until the end of the current term, June 30, 2027.
McCauley was selected through an interview and application process at the Feb. 11 board meeting. During this selection process, the district received 10 applications. McCauley’s appointment to the board created a vacancy on the Willamalane Budget Committee. At the March 11 board meeting, following a recruitment and application process, the board selected Trond Jacobsen as Willamalane’s next budget committee member. His term on the budget committee will run through Dec. 30, 2028.
Director McCauley brings extensive financial expertise and deep community roots to the Willamalane Board. A lifelong Springfield resident, she served on the Willamalane Budget Committee for nearly three years and is an engaged participant in the district’s childcare and youth programs as a parent of two daughters. McCauley is a Certified Public Accountant with Kernutt Stokes, where she has developed strong skills in financial stewardship, regulatory compliance, transparency, and asset management. Her professional experience, combined with her personal commitment to the Springfield community and her recent volunteer service with the Springfield City Club, Community LendingWorks, and the Springfield Twin Rivers Rotary, reflects her dedication to safeguarding the natural and financial resources that support quality of life for local families.
“We are thrilled to welcome Director McCauley to the Willamalane Board,” said Board President Brook Reinhard. “Her strong financial background as a CPA, service on the Willamalane Budget Committee, and her lived experience as a life-long Springfield resident make her exceptionally well-suited to help steward the district’s resources. Her commitment to transparency, fiscal responsibility, and ensuring access to opportunities for all members of our community will be a tremendous asset to Willamalane.”
Regarding the appointment, McCauley said, “It is an absolute honor to be joining the Willamalane Board of Directors. I’m deeply grateful to the board for entrusting me with this responsibility and look forward to serving the Springfield Community.”
