The Best of Willamalane Adult Rec Sports
Families, friends, and coworkers came together on the courts last fall to ace serves and drain threes. For some, it was all about the glory, while others came to have fun and bond over the sports they love. This recap tells the story of the teams that finished the fall season at the top of their leagues.

Fall 2025 Champions
Basketball
Sunday B-League: Thanasis Antetokounmpo Dream Team
Despite the name, there is no nepotism here (there might be a little bit). The team named after the greatest Bucks player of all time posed as much of a threat on the court as their name poses to someone in a spelling bee. Powered by a crisp 15.1 points per game (PPG) from Matthew Armienti, Thanasis Antetokounmpo Dream Team would lose just one game during the regular season only to make up for it and more in the championship. The champs found their wins in teamwork with close games down the stretch and points coming from all members.
Sunday A-League: Shanghai Sharks
With former NBA legends Noah Vonleh and Kenny Loften Jr on their team, it's no wonder the Shanghai Sharks dominated. The Shanghai Sharks have had some legendary players and teams so it’s no surprise that they could keep that going in the Willamalane leagues. As it turns out, that was the actual Shanghai Sharks team— but with how well the Willamalane team played they could have fooled us. Four different players averaged over 10 PPG, but one player stood out; Dallton Dewey averaged 26.8 PPG and dropped 36 points in the championship game.
Monday B-League: Hogz
Unfortunately, there was no sequel to the 2007 Tim Allen and John Travolta masterpiece, Wild Hogs. There was, however, a sequel to the 2024 Summer B league champs, Hogz. The Hogz, led by Tahajo Wilson with 12.0 PPG, picked up right where they left off from last season, going undefeated in the regular season to clinch the title before the playoffs started. With a tough battle vs Dr. Energy Saver for the A-league title, the Hogz kept the game close for most of the game, but a tough run by the Energy Savers kept the Hogz to the B-league title. With a back-to-back B-league run, the question remains: who will cage these wild swine, or will they continue to run Hog Wild?
Monday Competitive League: SHS Finest
As their name implies, SHS Finest was exactly that on the court. Once Willamalane 3v3 Basketball Champs, SHS Finest thought, "The more, the merrier," and went for the 5v5 Title this time around. With a league-high of 18.8 PPG by Jared Pederson and 16 points in the championship, the team could shoot the lights out of the gym! Marcell Hill locked in the championship win with a buzzer-beater, keeping crowds engaged until the very end.
3v3 League: Charcuterie Boards
The Miracle on Ice, Leicester City wins the Premier League, Golden State beating Dallas. These upsets may be more famous but are nothing compared to the Fall 2024 3v3 Champs, Charcuterie Boards. With one win going into the playoffs, this team won the two games that mattered most and pulled off an upset for the ages. Soon we will have to change the name from "Cinderella Story" to "Charcuterie Board Story."
Sunday Competitive League: Diverse City
The Windy City, The Sin City, The Motor City, and now Diverse City. The peaks of urban growth and legends of the city name. While this may not be an actual city, they have players as tall as skyscrapers and a population of 8 champions. The team's top scorer was Austin Sands with 13.6 PPG, and right behind him was Jeremy Salzman with 11.6 PPG. The city center contains lockdown defenses with Travis Holley and Matt Mcintosh and big man buckets with T.J. Smith, Grey Roger, and Dustin Leavitt. We'll see what the city has in store for next season.
Tennis
Tuesday Adult League: Matthew Clark
Unlike Clark Griswold, Matthew Clark seemed to have everything going right for him heading into the holiday season. Matthew entered the championship game with 6 victories and 2 draws. While the Bob Keefer Center Multi-Purpose courts are not yet known as the Wimbelton of the Pacific Northwest (It will catch on), a season like this by Matthew is undoubtedly worthy of a grand slam (Denny's or otherwise).
Volleyball
Mixed League: Bold Move Cotton
Unlike “Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story”, it doesn’t take Bold Move Cotton 20 years to make a sequel. The team best at the 5 v’s of volleyball: volley, v-spike, v-set, v-bump, and v-hit, Bold Move Cotton found another streak of dominance by losing just one game all season. A family affair, the set of Howard’s provides a tough proposition for any team across the net. Bold Move Cotton seems here to stay as one loss in 2 seasons puts them in elite volleyballing company.
Women’s League: Grade Diggers
Being so good at Volleyball that there's a monster truck named after you is an accomplishment few have achieved, but the Grade Diggers and Sasquatch can add that to their CVs. A monster of a season, the Grade Diggers proved to be the team to beat. The Grade Diggers put the hard work in on the final day of the season to go 2-0 and put plenty of space between them and the competition.
