Everything You Need to Know About 1Pass

Your Ticket to Summer Fun!

Last year, kids scanned their 1Passes 69,442 times at local Springfield and Eugene destinations, including local swimming pools, a museum, a trampoline park, a mini golf course, and a science center. Each scan was a moment of discovery, movement, laughter, and shared experience for kids in our community, all made possible by powerful community partnerships and a shared goal: to make summer fun more accessible.

What is 1Pass?

1Pass is a card kids 18 and younger can use to access exciting destinations in Eugene-Springfield during the summer for a flat fee of $60. In 2025, 1Pass offers more value than ever, with access to over fifteen destinations, including local swimming pools, a museum, a trampoline park, a mini golf course, and a science center. The 2025 1Pass also includes free admission to all Springfield Drifters’ games and $5 tickets to Eugene Emeralds games for up to ten family members. Plus, daily admission to the Adventure! Children’s Museum. See all 2025 destinations.

For the fourth year in a row, Springfield Public Schools is offering district-paid 1Passes. SPS students interested in getting an SPS-paid 1Pass can sign up online to enter a lottery before Wednesday, April 30, 2025.

The Evolution of 1Pass

When 1Pass began at Willamalane in 2012, the card included admission to all Willamalane facilities, a Lane Transit District bus pass, and access to three other attractions in Springfield and Eugene. It started small in that first year, but the idea of uniting private and public businesses to keep kids active during the summer set the foundation for what the program could become.

Right away, 1Pass was a big hit. Not only were families excited about the benefits, but businesses were keen to get in on the action, too, and the destination list continued to grow. 1Pass uses a revenue share model to reimburse destinations for their participation in the program. The more scans a destination receives, the bigger their payout. Using this model makes the program a true partnership, and when 1Passes are sold and used, all of the businesses collectively benefit.

In 2016, City of Eugene joined the 1Pass, adding all the Eugene pools to the destinations list and drastically expanding the reach to Eugene families. More families than ever could access affordable summer fun.

Four years later, changes to facility hours and regulations due to the pandemic prompted 1Pass to take a break. When it came back in 2021, demand was higher than ever. The tee was set for the impact of 1Pass to be amplified, and Springfield Public Schools came out swinging. The school district used pandemic relief funds to purchase up to 4,000 1Passes for their students, ensuring kids had even better access to enriching experiences over summer at no cost to families. It was the first year the 1Pass sold out, making the value of 1Pass to families abundantly clear. Today, SPS has identified additional funding sources to continue offering this opportunity to students.

The pandemic had a major effect on local businesses, especially those that brought people together. 1Pass played a key role in helping recreation destinations bounce back, and it even brought more foot traffic to places that tend to be less popular in summer months, like bowling alleys.

By 2021, Lane Transit District began offering student bus passes, so the 1Pass no longer needed to serve as a bus pass. However, all destinations are still along LTD bus routes, which makes it easier for kids to get to attractions and have fun all summer long.

The 1Pass program has evolved over the years to meet the ever-growing Interest in the program. Following the post-pandemic surge in popularity, the total number of passes available was capped at 11,000. This pass limit helped assure participating destinations that they could handle the number of visitors 1Pass would attract. Willamalane and City of Eugene evenly distribute passes, each selling 5,500 passes per year.

In 2024, the sales process switched from in-person to online to improve the buying experience, and Springfield Public Schools introduced a lottery system to fairly distribute district-paid passes. These changes removed waiting in long lines, made it easier than ever to get a 1Pass, and made it more affordable for SPS families.

As we look ahead to the 2025 season, 1Pass continues to be so much more than a ticket to summer fun — it’s a symbol of what’s possible when a community comes together with a common goal. With every scan, a door opens to connection, discovery, and joy for thousands of local kids. Thanks to dedicated partners who see the immeasurable value in making summer fun more accessible to kids in our community, 1Pass has become a beloved tradition that enriches lives year after year.
