Summer is here! With warmer weather and longer days, it’s the best season to get outdoors and try new activities.
Outdoor Fitness
Every Saturday morning, you can bring your yoga mat to the wide-open meadow of Dorris Ranch. In these guided Outdoor Fitness classes set against the backdrop of filbert orchards and a historic barn, you’ll stretch and move while taking in the sights, smells, and sounds of this beautiful park. What’s a better way to start your Saturday morning than a communal yoga session?
Oh, and they’re completely free to all participants.
Outdoor Gear Rentals
As the warm weather rolls in, are you ready to head out to nearby rivers and lakes? One of Willamalane’s best-kept secrets is the outdoor gear rental program. Kayaks, paddleboards, and tubes can be rented for the day or weekend at really low rates!
You can check out gear on Fridays after 11 a.m. and return gear anytime on Monday during regular business hours at Bob Keefer Center.
Kayak Classes
If you’re looking to learn the basics of whitewater kayaking or just brush up on your skills, there are new three-day classes for you! Run by Oregon River Runners, you can get ready to tackle the rapids. All necessary equipment will be provided. The first class is held indoors at Willamalane Park Swim Center, followed by two classes on the river.
Clearwater Park Opportunities
Clearwater Park is a popular access point for a float down the river. This summer, Oregon River Runners will offer tubes and other gear for rent from a mobile kiosk on Thursdays through Sundays. Float the meandering river down to Island Park. Once you hop out to return your gear to the shop on Main and Mill, you can grab a shuttle ride back to Clearwater Park. No more logistics!
Clearwater Park also has a lifejacket kiosk for anyone who needs to borrow a vest. Life jackets are available from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Just be sure to return it after you’re done!
