McKenzie River Path Feasibility Study
Willamalane is considering adding a new multi-use path in northeast Springfield, a project identified as a high priority in Willamalane’s 2023 Comprehensive Plan and as part of the City of Springfield’s Transportation System Plan.
The potential site for this path is located along the McKenzie River and through Willamalane’s Moe Mountain area, connecting Springfield’s Thurston area to the existing EWEB multi-use path.
The feasibility phase of the project is grant-funded through the Community Paths Program with the Oregon Department of Transportation. At this stage, Willamalane has partnered with a consultant to evaluate the feasibility of this project and to collect input to ensure that, if constructed, the path would best serve the community.
Following completion of the feasibility study, Willamalane will consider next steps, which may include seeking grant funding, refining potential route options, and developing preliminary design concepts to move towards construction of the path. Any construction may include phased approaches.
