Share the Moments That Bring Us Together
There’s something powerful about the everyday moments that shape our community. A high-five after a tough workout. The way a child looks up to a camp counselor. A neighbor’s wave as you pass on the trail. Parks and recreation aren’t just places or programs. They’re how we connect.
Together Through Parks is a new community art project from Willamalane that invites you to pause and reflect on those moments through stories, drawings, and shared memories.
In a time when so much feels disconnected, this is one way to notice what we share. It’s not a contest. There’s nothing to win. It’s just a chance to be seen, to see others, and maybe to realize we’re not as separate as we think.
Get Inspired
At the center of this project is an art exhibit at Bob Keefer Center, featuring work by five local artists who explored the theme of community through parks and recreation. Their pieces are thoughtful and full of small details that hint at bigger stories about how parks and recreation bring us together. Alongside them are postcards and stories submitted by people from across our community.
If you browse the gallery, you’ll see drawings of favorite flowers, fill-in-the-blank sentences by kids, diagrams of the next big park idea, bullet points of wish lists, and a beautifully knitted piece. Each piece is different. Together, they tell a story about what it means to be a part of a community connected by parks and recreation.
