Together Through Parks
Celebrate Community Through Art
Parks and recreation are at the heart of a healthy, active community. Willamalane’s spaces and programs inspire connection and create opportunities for the community to grow, play, and belong.
Together Through Parks is a community art project that highlights how parks and recreation bring people together. Now you’re invited to share your own stories of connection through parks and recreation.
Get Inspired!
Williamalane commissioned five local artists to share how parks and recreation bring us together. These black-and-white or grayscale pieces are featured in a temporary exhibit at Bob Keefer Center, alongside community submissions.
Browse the digital art gallery or stop by Bob Keefer Center during regular hours to see the collection. All submissions, professional and community, are on display.
Community Art Piece
See a colorful new piece created by families at Willamalane's Children's Celebration as part of the Together Through Parks project. Stop by the Second Friday Art Walk to see it on display!

Artist Reception: Mimi Brickson + Community Art
Experience the diverse talent of our community at reception events as part of Springfield’s Second Friday Art Walk. This month's featured artist is Mimi Brickson. Alongside her work will be a community art piece from the Together Through Parks Campaign.
Join a Community Art Project!
There are two easy ways to take part in this project:
1. Submit a Postcard or MadLibs
Get creative! You could doodle your favorite place to connect with family and friends, write about a favorite moment, or dream up something new that builds community. Find a postcard at a Willamalane event, at any Willamalane facility, or in the summer rec guide. Fill-in-the-blank, MadLibs-style cards are also available at facilities or Willamalane events.
Drop your completed card at any Willamalane facility or bring it to a Willamalane special event. All submissions will be displayed at Bob Keefer Center.
2. Stop by a Willamalane Event or Facility
It’s fun and easy for everyone to participate! Stop by the Together Through Parks table at a Willamalane event, and you can complete a story by filling in the blanks or doodling on a postcard. You can also pick up postcards and fill-in-the-blank stories at any facility.
